Mud, water & more mud!

I’m lucky to live near the New Forest where there are so many rivers & streams for those dogs who have a ‘water magnet’ in their brain! Why do they love the dirty water (especially where there’s also some of the “chocolate sauce” mud!) but not the lovely clean water from the garden hose? It probably has a minimal smell while removing the interesting ones!
